PRESENTATION

From Friday the 15th to Sunday the 17th June 2007, the town of Arona will guest the Biennial Travel Book: the unique manifestation in Italy which is entirely dedicated to the world of “travels of paper”. A new project launched with the long experience of the Foundation for the book, Music and Culture, that organises the International Book Fair in Turin: the past twenty years the biggest festival dedicated to books and literature. The cultural program unfolds between meetings with authors, art exhibitions and shows; while a huge bookshop will take, from classics to the latest, what is most interesting for travellers: paths, maps, travel books and a lot more. The Biennial, promoted by the Tourism Local Authority of Regione Piemonte and organised by the Foundation for the book, Music and Culture, in collaboration with Lago Maggiore Fair, develops on the lake-front exhibition area, a frame that has always been the inspiration for writers, artists and philosophers.

Events
Arona. Biennial Travel Book
Because there’s only one luggage that you can’t renounce. The one of knowledge.

Travel Itineraries, Diaries, Concerts and Prints. The stories of the last explorers. The woman who crossed five deserts alone. The great photo reporters. The carnets de voyage of people still preferring paper and pencil to the digital picture. Travellers of words and notes comparing one each other. Thousands of books to be discovered in the big bookshop and among the stands. The journey of art, guides, classics and novelties, itineraries and maps, words and sounds, colours and sensations. Ideas to be put in your luggage to start travelling again.

About Arona
Arona has been, in the history, a reference and a transit for many population like Celts, Romans and Longobardi but its thriving period goes back to the XII century when it became part of the Visconti’s fields and, then in 1439, of the Borromeo’s.
Today this town is a part of the Lago Maggiore Park, a very interesting tourist area of Novara district.
